The ceremonial groundbreaking on April 2, 2008, marks a major milestone—the start of The Banks on Cincinnati’s riverfront. The much anticipated project will create a neighborhood with a mix of housing, retail and entertainment at the city’s southernmost tip between Great American Ballpark and Paul Brown Stadium. Carter and the Dawson Company selected Cole + Russell Architects and collaborative partner Moody Nolan as the design team for the first phase of project, which will enhance the city vernacular and bring connectivity and vibrancy to downtown. |

C+RA’s eight foot Kermit the Frog made out of 4,952 cans of food received the 2008 canstruction Juror’s Favorite award. C+RA designed and built the quirky sculpture as part of the unique, national community service project and design competition, which spotlights hunger. The design was inspired by the firm’s commitment to sustainable architecture and to providing 2,000 pounds of vegetables and protein to aid in the fight against hunger. All food used in the construction benefits the FreeStore/FoodBank. A special thanks to our platinum contributing partners: Jane Schank in memory of Bertha E. Schank, Bayer Becker Engineers, Kleingers & Associates, KLH Engineers, Messer Construction and Steven Schaefer Associates. |
